Six dead in Bowling Green Interstate 65 crash

Multiple fatality crash closes part of I-65 near Bowling Green

The Kentucky State Police say five of the people killed are from Beech Grove. Killed in their van was Lonny D. Boster, 59; his wife, Jonell Boster, 48; and their two sons, Lonny D. Boster Jr., 30; and Carl Boster, 17.

The driver of the Volvo tractor trailer was treated at the scene and released.

Trooper Jeremy Hodges said one tractor-trailer and both passenger vehicles were stationary when the other tractor-trailer hit one of the passenger vehicles, causing a chain-reaction crash.

Two passenger vehicles and two semi-trucks were involved in the wreck that occurred just after 10:30 p.m. Thursday on northbound I-65 just north of Exit 30 - the recently opened interchange that connects the interstate to the nearby Kentucky Transpark.

(7/14/17 - 9/15 a.m.) - A preliminary investigation of the collision has revealed the accident which occurred at the 30 mile marker of I-65, happened at a particular portion of I-65 where road construction was being conducted, and the roadway merges from three lanes of travel into two lanes. Traffic was backed up due to the construction.

All lanes of northbound I-65 were closed for hours in the area of the crash but have been reopened.

The sixth victim of the crash's identity will be released after their family is notified.
