Google Reportedly Working On Mini Google Home & New Chromebook Pixel

Google plans to launch a new Chromebook Pixel and mini Google Home this year

Few details exist about a smaller model of the Google Home, but there's a high likelihood that it'll simply be a smaller version of the original Google Home.

While there may or may not be a new Chromebook in the works, there will be a new Google Home that the company will be launching as well, which is said to be a smaller version of the already running Google Home, and should compete with the Amazon Echo Dot.

According to a recent report from Android Police, Google has more than just two Pixel phones to announce later this year.

The Home Mini is likely to be much as the Dot is to its elder sibling, but should make an all-Google voice system more affordable.

Google Home, which is powered by Google's own artificial intelligent assistant called Google Assistant, a digital helper that helps you do things for you like play a song, give you flight information or tell you what's on your calendar. Amazon is also offering a $20 discount for consumers who buy three Echo Dots, so it stands to reason Google, too, wants consumers to buy in bulk and that may now be cost-prohibitive with Google Home's $129 price point.

Today's report also claims that Google is prepping a mini version of the Google Home. In the Amazon Echo Dot, that meant lower quality speakers.

Android Police reported on this yesterday, speculating that Project Bison (a laptop that was to run the now defunct Andromeda) may have evolved into the Chromebook Eve as Andromeda crumbled and/or was consumed by Android and ChromeOS.

Nearly two and a half years have passed by since Google introduced the second-generation Chromebook Pixel, the successor to its original high-end Chrome OS laptop that it released in 2013. It had 128 GB of storage, a 12.3-inch screen, 8 or 16GB of RAM, and a Wacom stylus as an add-on accessory.
