Many companies already produce original videos for Facebook.
Per Facebook'sblog post, Watch will help users find videos from outside their news feed and will be available on mobile, TV apps and desktops/laptop. Facebook has said that it is introducing the platform to a limited group of publishers in the U.S.
That's what Facebook is calling the new section, which will only be made available to users in the USA for now, but is likely to expand outwards in the future. It was reported then that the company spent over 100 million Dollars to fund original video content channels from celebrities, digital video creators, and media companies.

He adds that he eventually sees Watch as a home to a variety of shows and original content, including reality shows, sports events, and content from regular Facebook users. These shows will be made out of live or recorded episodes that follow an already set storyline or theme, basically, what most expect from a show or series. If people watch shows, they'll be spending more time on Facebook. "As a programmer, that's incredibly exciting especially when Facebook has said they are going to invest a lot of equity and energy into this".
Facebook says the Watch tab will feature content created to "engage fans and community", including videos from popular vloggers and online personalities. It will also have a Watchlist so people would never miss out on the latest episodes.
Ironically, Facebook has been challenged with proving out engagement and viewability for advertisers, despite its growing volume of video content. "For example, you'll find sections like "Most Talked About", which highlights shows that spark conversation, "What's Making People Laugh", which includes shows where many people have used the "Haha" reaction, and "What Friends Are Watching", which helps you connect with friends about shows they too are following", a part of the post read. The page will also inform the users about the show and what is it all about.
James Murdoch, CEO of 21 Century Fox, praised the value of those incumbent online video platforms during the broadcaster's Q2 earnings call Wednesday, calling YouTube TV and Hulu's live TV offering "significantly valuable" in diversifying pricing models and expanding access to TV content for viewers.
