Tillerson: US Willing to Talk to North Korea If Missile Tests Stop

The president said Kim Jong-un would be met with "fire and fury" should he continued to threaten America with a missile attack.

Referring to Mr Jong Un, he added: "He has been very threatening beyond a normal statement. They will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen", Trump said during a briefing on opioid addiction at his golf course in Bedminster, New Jersey.

NORTH Korea has successfully produced a miniaturised nuclear warhead that can fit inside its missiles, U.S. officials reportedly said.

"I would tell you that we would be favorably inclined to do anything which furthers the defense capabilities of South Korea and we certainly have seen our alliance change and adapt over time before", Davis said. Significantly, the sanctions were supported by China, which accounts for more than 90% of North Korea's external commerce.

The sanctions followed Pyongyang's two tests of intercontinental ballistic missiles last month.

US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley has called new sanctions on North Korea "a gut punch" and warned of possible military action should the regime continue its aggressive actions.

Bank of England votes to hold rates, cut growth forecasts
Following the bank's announcement , sterling dropped nearly 1 per cent against the United States dollar to $1.31. The cost of debt and borrowing is set to rise faster than markets are now expecting, Ben Broadbent said.

The assessment was made by the Defense Intelligence Agency last month, the paper said, marking another alarming development in the communist country's pursuit of nuclear-tipped ballistic missiles that can reach the USA mainland.

In a tweet on Tuesday, Trump said that after many years of failure, countries are coming together to finally address the dangers posed by North Korea.

Under the 2012 agreement with the US, South Korea is now allowed to develop missiles with a range of up to 800km (497 miles) and a payload of 500kg, according to the Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI).

Donald Trump has retweeted a Fox News report based on anonymous United States intelligence sources, despite his attorney general's pledge to clamp down on government leaks. North Korea claimed to have tested the smaller design previous year, but that has not been confirmed.

On Tuesday, US President Donald Trump highlighted his administration's success in leading the UN Security Council to unanimously pass sanctions on North Korea.

U.S. stocks fell, with the S&P 500 at a session low after Trump's comment, while a widely followed measure of stock market anxiety spiked higher and was on track to close at a one-month high.
