On July 28, a five-member Supreme Court bench disqualified 67-year-old Sharif for dishonesty and ruled that corruption cases be filed against him and his children, forcing the embattled leader out of office.

After 60 days, the probe committee filed its report in the court and within two weeks, a verdict was delivered that ordered the elections authority to disqualify Nawaz Sharif.

A speeding vehicle accompanying Nawaz Sharif's "homecoming" motorcade crushed a nine-year-old child in Lalamusa, Punjab, on Friday, the media reported.

Former Pakistani premier Nawaz Sharif's rally through Punjab province entered its second day on Thursday, evoking a mixed response as thousands gathered to receive him at some places while the turnout in his party's stronghold of Rawalpindi was lower than expected.

Nawaz Sharif said that he didn't receive any salary from his son, and how can someone disqualify him on receiving money from his son.

Sources in Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) said that Sharif was unhappy with the turnout and asked party leaders to make more targeted efforts to bring out the supporters.

Sharif said that over the past 70 years no prime minister in Pakistan has been permitted to complete their term, making the country and its people suffer.

Yasim Rashid, a doctor by profession contested General Elections in 2013 from the same seat against Nawaz Sharif bagging 52,354 votes in contrast to 91, 683 votes of former.
