Bungie removes Destiny 2 gauntlet that features elements of a 'hate symbol'
Though it has not been formally announced which item features the hate symbol, Reddit has concluded that its likely a legendary gauntlet named Road Complex AA1, which features lettering and coloring reminiscent of the "Kekistan flag".
This flag has recently been seen amongst white supremacist groups, such as those marching in the U.S. in recent weeks.
As freakish as it might sound, the Cult of Kek even has its own flag, called the "Kekistan flag", which bears a resemblance to a "German Nazi war flag", according to the SPLC.
The development team have confirmed that the latest Destiny 2 update will be available after the game's servers go back online, with patch notes available to view at the bottom of this article. The statement reads: "It's come to our attention that a gauntlet in Destiny 2 shares elements with a hate symbol". We are removing it. Thus, you have the alt-right Kek.
Bungie CEO Pete Parsons added in a personal tweet that, 'Our company values place the highest emphasis on inclusion of all people and respect for all who work with us or play our games'. "We renounce hate in all forms".
They later confirmed that the image had been removed from the shared game world and that all relating imagery, including in-game icons, are set to be removed in a "HotFix" that is scheduled for next week.
And when they did, fans have been forced to download a new Destiny 2 patch.
