National Investigation Agency raids house of Hurriyat leader, seizes Rs 2.2 cr
The NIA on Thursday raided the house of senior separatist leader and influential Shia cleric Syed Agha Hassan as well as the houses of other separatist leaders and their aides in Kashmir Valley as part of its massive searches in the terror-funding case probe.
On Wednesday, the agency had raided 24 places in Kashmir Valley and in Delhi focusing mainly on traders, who allegedly have links with the terror funding case under probe by the NIA. "We will go to the NIA gate to protest", said Malik. "During searches, fixed deposits worth over Rs 1 crore, and lots of incriminating material, suspect financial records, property-related documents and electronic devices have been seized", the spokesman said.
"Sumji's house and shopping complex in Bijbehara were searched for nearly five hours while shopkeepers in his complex were also questioned".
The NIA teams also raided the residences Zameer Sheikh and Razzaq Choudhary, both close aides of senior separatist leader Shabir Ahmad Shah, who is in custody of Enforcement Directorate.
Among those whose premises were searched include separatist leaders Ghulam Nabi Sumji and Syed Aga Hassan Budgami, both close to hardline separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani. "The NIA raided early today and searched the house till about 3pm", sources said.
IS conflict: Syrian army closes in on Deir al-Zour
It said it had offered a plan to spare the women and children in the convoy "further suffering", but gave no details. On Friday, coalition jets made mock air raids over the convoy, the commander added.
During all these months NIA has been acting like notorious character "Gabber Singh" and this agency has so far not only arrested many resistance leaders and businessmen but ruined business and careers of many people. The J&K police and the CRPF have laid siege around these locations to facilitate smooth raids, the official sources said. This arrest came a day after Malik visited the residences of slain Hizbul Mujahideen militants Sabzar Ahmed Bhat and Faizan Muzaffar in Tral area of south Kashmir's Pulwama district.
Searches were conducted in houses and business establishments of those suspected of channelising funds to fuel unrest in the Kashmir Valley. The house of Salamabad cross-LoC traders Union President, Hilal Ahmad Khan (Turki) was also raided at Natipora, Nowgam.
"Searches are still continuing and the suspects were questioned about the incriminating recoveries made from them", Mittal said.
Three top Kashmiri separatist leaders Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik had threatened to stage a sit-in outside the NIA headquarters in Delhi on September 9 and court arrest to protest against, what they termed as, "vilification" of Kashmiri people by the investigation agency.
