North Korean officials say the tests are part of a process of seeking "equilibrium" with the US. The U.N. Security Council met on Friday afternoon to discuss the North Korean launch, as requested by the United States and Japan.
North Korea fired a ballistic missile over the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido Friday local time, the latest in a stream of missile tests that have looked to defy the worldwide community.
