This new feature by Amazon is now available for messaging, calling, flash briefing, shopping and enjoying the Unlimited Amazon Music and soon this update will cover all features.
Voice Profiles will hopefully make its way to other Alexa-enabled devices but is now limited to Echo devices only for the time being. One thing to note here is that "touch-to-talk" devices like the Amazon Tap or Fire TV remote will not support voice profiles.
Voice recognition works with the Echo smart speaker and any other devices with Alexa built-in.

To activate the new feature, users need to go to the "Your Voice" section under settings, and then follow the instructions. More user voice functionality is coming but Amazon hasn't released any specifics on that yet. According to the company, 10 given phrases have to be repeated for training the assistant to recognize a particular voice.
The online retailer, which is already working with Microsoft Corp. on productivity features for Alexa such as calendar interactions, will put the user first in pursuit of any other partnerships, said Toni Reid, Amazon's vice president of Alexa and Echo devices, who has been on the team since 2014. The training data is is stored in the cloud so that Alexa devices purchased in the future can also recognize users. If you are interested in grabbing the Amazon Echo Show, this is the best time.
