Wiehl had alleged that O'Reilly sent her gay pornography and other sexually explicit material, and accused him of repeated harassment, according to the Times report.

The story really rattled cages because it reported Fox News renewed O'Reilly's contract - for $25 million per year for four years - after O'Reilly reached a settlement with Wiehl.

21st Century Fox said in a statement to the New York Times that O'Reilly's settlement with Lis Wiehl, a former legal analyst at Fox News, was a personal matter between the two, and said O'Reilly "was the biggest star in cable TV".

That's an exorbitant amount of money for a sexual harassment lawsuit when you consider that Fox News CEO Roger Ailes - who had been fired just six months earlier - had paid out $20 million to host Gretchen Carlson.

"His new contract, which was made at a time typical for renewals of multi-year talent contracts, added protections for the company specifically aimed at harassment, including that Mr. O'Reilly could be dismissed if the company was made aware of other allegations or if additional relevant information was obtained in a company investigation", 21CF added.

Mariah Carey's Home Was Hit in a $50k Burglary
TMZ reports that Mariah Carey is the latest victim in a string of burglaries that have hit the Los Angeles area this year. Fortunately for her, the mother of Monroe and Moroccan (6 years) was not on site at the time of the burglary.

"The company subsequently acted based on the terms of this contract", the statement continued. They agreed that all communications between her and O'Reilly would be destroyed, and she signed an affidavit saying she had "no claims against Bill O'Reilly concerning any of those emails or any of the allegations in the draft complaint", according to the Times.

"After a thorough and careful review of the allegations, the Company and Bill O'Reilly have agreed that Bill O'Reilly will not be returning to the Fox News Channel", 21st Century Fox said in a statement at the time. "The Times ignored that evidence, sworn under oath, and chose to rely on unsubstantiated allegations, anonymous sources and incomplete leaked or stolen documents", he wrote.

The Times characterized the sum to Wiehl as "extraordinarily large". The Times reports that Rupert Murdoch and his sons, Lachlan and James, were adamant at the time to retain the popular host, as they had just seen the departure of Megyn Kelly.

All that has not only been reported by the Times, but also now confirmed by 21st Century Fox themselves. The five agreements reportedly amounted to $13 million, and included a 2004 payment by O'Reilly to a former Fox producer named Andrea Mackris for $9 million.

As other accusations swirled around FNC before, during and since, O'Reilly was finally canned after it was revealed that over $10 million had been paid out to settle other sexual harassment claims against him. When Wiehl first appeared on the show in 2001, O'Reilly said he had gotten her the job and that she owed him for it, to which she replied, "No, no, no".
