Jemele Hill and Michael Smith in Los Angeles
ESPN columnist Jemele Hill attends ESPN The Party on February 5, 2016 in San Francisco, California.
The ESPN announcement said it was Hill's second violation in a reference to a September incident when she called President Donald Trump a white supremacist in a tweet. Hill suggested NFL fans boycott vendors and advertisers associated with the Dallas Cowboys after franchise owner Jerry Jones told players they'd be benched if they demonstrated during the national anthem. The backlash of her tweets reached the White House, where press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Hill's comments were a fireable offense. "If you feel strongly about JJ's statement, boycott his advertiser", Hill tweeted on Sunday with a link to a tweet featuring several of the Cowboys' advertisers.
"Just so we're clear: I'm not advocating a National Football League boycott".
"In the aftermath, all employees were reminded of how individual tweets may reflect negatively on ESPN and that such actions would have consequences", the statement continued.

Hill posted on Twitter following the Cowboys news, saying: This play always work.
ESPN personality Jemele Hill is feeling her company's wrath after receiving a two-week suspension for a social media violation.
"Donald Trump is a white supremacist who has largely surrounded himself w/ other white supremacists", Hill tweeted.
Don't misunderstand, Hill being suspended is a good thing. "We have addressed this with Jemele and she recognizes her actions were inappropriate". Hill apologized to ESPN at the time for painting them in an "unfair light". "Hence this decision", the statement said.
Southgate urges England to win over fans
The reality is we are underdogs at the moment, aren't we? "This team has potential, but we have a hell of a lot of work to do". I'd like to see England play three at the back throughout the tournament, so "traditional" full-backs aren't needed.

Scotland's late goal keeps play-off hopes alive
Subs: Vladimir Weiss for Adam Nemec 78, Ondrej Duda for Marek Hamsik 79 and Norbert Gyomber for Juraj Kucka 79. But Gordon Strachan's side refused to lie down and got the victor with two minutes left on the clock.
Italy fails to clinch World Cup play-off spot
I had moments that were positive and negative, like all coaches. "There is still a game to play, then we'll tackle the playoffs". Failing to reach the World Cup for the first time since 1958 would certainly bring a swift end to his tenure.
