Man City's Benjamin Mendy Ruled Out Until April
01 October 2017, 12:52 | Percy Christensen
Guardiola is putting in the extra work ahead of City's trip to champions Chelsea on Sunday
Manchester City's French global defender Benjamin Mendy faces surgery and several months out after scans showed a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee on Thursday. The £49million summer signing from Monaco has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, likely keeping the France worldwide out for most of the season in his first year in English football.
However, the 23-year-old Frenchman suffered a nasty-looking knee injury during City's 5-0 win over Crystal Palace on the weekend and fans feared the worst as Mendy was immediately subbed off and soon seen trudging around in crutches.
Mendy joined City from Monaco for a fee of £49.2m in July.
Falcons edge Lions after Tate TD was overturned
The next season, the Lions took on the Tennessee Titans and in the second quarter, Stafford threw a touchdown pass to Eric Ebron. Eight seconds later, Stafford had already taken another snap and spiked the ball to set up the game-tying field goal.
The offseason arrival of Mendy and right-back Kyle Walker, two of the most attacking full-backs in Europe, has added a new dimension to City's play going forward. He then travelled to Barcelona to see a specialist earlier this week, and it was confirmed that he would be on the injured list for much of the 2017-2018 season. Guardiola also raised the prospect on Tuesday of Ukraine attacking midfielder, Oleksandr Zinchenko, who has yet to make a senior appearance for City, filling in there but admitted the club may be forced to delve into the transfer market in January.
"Benjamin will undergo surgery tomorrow in Barcelona, because he has a cut in the front cruciate ligament of the right knee, and everyone in the club wants to recover quickly".
