David Warner hit a century as Australia beat India by 21 runs in Bangalore to avoided facing a whitewash in their one-day global series.
India vs Australia 5th ODI of the five-match series will be played on Sunday, October 1, 2017.
Playing his 100th ODI, Warner struck his 14th century as he and Finch forged a 231-run stand for the opening wicket at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium here. By defeating the guest team in stylish manner, Virat Kohli led 11-member squad showcased an excellent performance throughout the series of ODI matches.
Their dismissals in quick succession did put a halt in scoring rate before Peter Handscomb's 43 off 30 balls and Marcus Stoinis' cameo (15 no off 9 balls) enabled them to cross the 330-run mark.
"We were optimistic with our chances". I think we had some opportunities in the first two games to probably get one win and we didn't. "I thought it would be a great effort to restrict them to under 350 and we did that. That can happen. People have off days", he said. To be appreciated for our skills, obviously coming from an Indian cricket legend (Gavaskar), it feels good because he has seen a lot of Indian teams over the past few years. Jadhav, who had been struggling with the bat for the longest time, also came good with a 67. They pulled things back nicely in the field.
Presidents Cup: Team USA continues dominant run
The worst celebration was our last of the day. "Back nine, I didn't play very well at all", Matsuyama said on Friday. Then we went four holes in a a row and we're all square, then up again, and a bit all over the place.
Earlier, Warner and Finch took the attack to the Indian bowlers to eclipse Australia's previous best opening stand against India which was the 212 set by Geoff Marsh and David Boon in Jaipur in 1986. This is not to say that they played badly, they still managed to cross 300, but the victory was agonisingly close for them.
However, it was a good day for the Australian cricket team as they defeated the Indian cricket team by 21 runs and the Australian captain was happy about it. "Nice to defend and get a win", said Smith.
After Australian captain Steven Smith won the toss and elected to bat first, Warner and Finch were comfortable against Umesh and Shami and the left-right Australian combination took the attack to the opposition straightaway.
Both are very good runners individually between the wickets but when it comes to understanding between these two, it looks like it is the most important factor certainly doesn't exist between the two.
