Amazon announces'Lord of the Rings TV show

Peter Jackson's LOTR movie trilogy is 558 minutes (!) altogether, and that's not counting the extended version. After all, George R.R. Martin came along years later and managed to make that historical approach work like gangbusters in Game of Thrones, a show that Amazon is nearly certainly looking at as a blueprint for their own potential success here - even down to the idea of possible spin-offs being a part of the deal.

The e-commerce company said it already has a "multi-season commitment" for the show and said the deal includes a potential additional spin-off series. "Sharon [Tal Yguado, Head of Scripted Series] and the team at Amazon Studios have exceptional ideas to bring to the screen previously unexplored stories based on J.R.R. Tolkien's original writings".

Amazon is reportedly intending to produce a series which will take place before the events of The Lord Of The Rings, but are not told in the story of The Hobbit.

The upcoming Amazon Prime Original [The Lord of the Rings] will be produced by Amazon Studios in cooperation with the Tolkien Estate and Trust, HarperCollins and New Line Cinema, a division of Warner Bros. Everybody wants a big hit and certainly that's the show of the moment in terms of being a model for a hit. Like any good television show, it looks like we'll have to stay tuned. But while the 2.09 million viewers who tuned in to the recent Season 3 premiere of that show constituted a banner night for Starz, those ratings pale in comparison to the 16.5 million viewers who tuned in to the Season 7 Game of Thrones finale just a few weeks before.

Now the Pixel 2 XL has an unresponsive screen issue
Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones have widely been hailed as an outstanding flagship device based on early reviews. This is likely caused by Google's software being a little aggressive when it comes to rejecting accidental touches.

It is also a proven pop culture commodity.

The newest TV installment from Middle Earth is headed to Amazon. While we still aren't certain about specific details, there's plenty to choose from. Listen to the brand new episode NOW in the link below.

But with that many parties in on the bidding, it's unlikely that the cost went down for Amazon-especially when you consider that Apple has also been lurking in the shadows of Hollywood, making strategic content deals that would give the iPhone-maker family-friendly programming to bundle into its Apple Music streaming service.

Amazon said on Monday they had purchased the global television rights to The Lord of the Rings franchise for an undisclosed amount.
