Cybersecurity Firm Claims to Trick Face ID With Elaborate Mask

iPhone X's Face ID gets conned by mask
The latest instance of 3D printing being used to thwart an expensive and widely implemented security feature comes courtesy of Bkav, a security firm that has used an elaborate 3D printed mask to "trick" the new iPhone X into unlocking itself. The trouble with facial recognition is that too many humans have defining characteristics that can not be dissected by a machine-we look too similar.
They said: " Potential targets shall not be regular users, but billionaires, leaders of major corporations, nation leaders and agents like Federal Bureau of Investigation need to understand the Face ID's issue [sic]. It's not impossible, but that's an impressive amount of hurdles to jump in a short amount of time without using a password, as BKAV claimed. Of those measures was lowering the internal specifications for its Face ID components.
Sure most people won't spend the time and energy to digitally scan your face and figure out 3-D printing to unlock your phone. The company states that the best form of biometric security is a fingerprint, and Apple, which has not yet commented on Bkav's 3D printed mask, says that its new Face ID software is not well-suited for twins or children under 13, so it appears that the security measure is definitely not foolproof. It took them less than a week to spoof Face ID and say it was even easier than they expected with only half a face needed to create the mask. The team suggested that since since Apple released the iPhone X a year early, "they haven't carried out scientific and serious estimation before deciding to replace Touch ID with Face ID". The anti-spoofing device works using a randomized sequence of 2D images and a depth map captured by the camera. "These are actual masks used by the engineering team to train the neural network to protect against them in Face ID".

Sweden and Italy gear up for World Cup playoff clash
However, the latest reports suggest that he is now being courted by two national teams who would largely benefit from his arrival. This is the first time since the 1958 edition held in Sweden that Italy have failed to qualify for the FIFA World Cup .
Bkav has been a long-term critic of facial recognition and alleges that Apple rushed out Face ID without properly securing it. Apple's facial recognition begins with the opening assumption that the user gazing at the screen is likely to be the correct user.
But it seems that Face ID might not be infallible, from a security perspective. Face ID is even attention-aware. It only took Vietnam-based cybersecurity experts from Bkav a few days to figure out the vulnerabilities of the authentication mechanism and create an extremely creepy mold of a hacker's face. It only required roughly $150 excluding 3D printer to make this mask.
Bkav researchers began testing Face ID as soon as the iPhone X was released to them last week. They also used a professional artist to create the nose, which failed at first, and "hand-made" the skin.
