Entertainment Weekly noted that Warner Bros. owns a minority stake in Rotten Tomatoes through owners Fandango, which "may or may not" be a factor in the "Justice League" rating delay.

However, Comicbook.com reports that the Justice League's Rotten Tomatoes score has been leaked early and boy, it doesn't look good.

As new reviews of the film come in, it can be expected to fluctuate. Justice League is now tracking for an opening weekend of $110 million.

But how about the overall rating? You can read our reviews of Justice League here and here. Variety critic Guy Lodge told The Washington Post that "we need more transparency and equality on Rotten Tomatoes". Not as high as I thought it would be, but high enough that I'll still buy a ticket, perhaps begrudgingly. And after the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was greeted to infamously negative reviews, there is even more sensitivity around Justice League's arrival.

Eager DC Film fans will have to wait a little longer to decide if there's a Rotten Tomatoes conspiracy against the DC Extended Universe - the reveal of the score has been delayed.

Why we care: This year marked a flashpoint in the debate on how Rotten Tomatoes scores affect a film's performance. It did the same for A Bad Mom's Christmas, the dismal score for which they revealed in the debut episode of See It/Skip It.

Mark Hughes in Forbes includes plenty of discussion of how much money this movie could make, but then calls it a "two-hour live-action superhero cartoon made for kids as well as adults", which appears to be praise but might turn fans away.

The late review embargo lift doesn't bode well for Justice League, which has been mired in behind-the-scenes changes and overhauls after extensive reshoots overseen by Joss Whedon.

It scored better than the dismal Suicide Squad and Batman v. Superman, but worse than box-office toppers like Man of Steel and DC's newest darling, Wonder Woman. Justice League releases on November 17. The positive certification has impacted several movies - including Wonder Woman.

The critics have spoken, the box office projections are set and Justice League is finally hitting theaters.

So, in summation, critics reviews are useful, but more likely to help a great, tiny movie to get attention, rather than stop a awful (or, in this case, mediocre) blockbuster making bank.

The Daily Dot has contacted Rotten Tomatoes for comment.
