A spokesperson for Sen. Al Franken says he won't resign

A spokesperson for Sen. Al Franken says he won't resign after allegations he groped a Los Angeles radio anchor in 2006

According to CNN, Lindsay Menz, 33, said Franken grabbed her buttocks in 2010 while the two were posing together for a photo at a state fair in Minnesota.

The allegations against Franken come at a time when sexual harassment and abuse by wealthy and powerful men has become an increasingly salient political and cultural issue, one that has ended or tarnished the careers of Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, actor Kevin Spacey, comedian Louis C.K., and others. She added, "It was wrapped tightly around my butt cheek".

Menz said that while she believes that Franken's alleged groping of radio anchor Leeann Tweeden was much worse, "the reason I want to say something is if someone sees that I said something, maybe it would give them the courage to say something too".

Menz told CNN she wanted to share an "uncomfortable" interaction that left her feeling "gross". Menz also said she posted the photo with Franken on Facebook on August 27, and when her sister commented on the photo, she replied: "Dude - Al Franken TOTALLY molested me!"

The letter, posted on Twitter, headlined SNL Women Offer Solidarity In Support Of Al Franken, reads as follows: "We feel compelled to stand up for Al Franken, whom we have all had the pleasure of working with over the years on Saturday Night Live (SNL)".

A second woman has come forward to accuse Sen.

Franken faces a possible investigation by the Senate Ethics Committee.

Franken said in a statement that he did not remember meeting Menz.

Menz, who is now a resident of Texas, had stationed herself at a booth inside the state fair sponsored by her father.

Franken's office said the senator didn't recall the photo, noting that he has thousands of photos taken with constituents every year.

Franken acknowledged improper actions and apologized to Tweeden.

Menz made it clear that she did not compare her experience to Tweeden's.

When she met Franken, she said she had a short exchange with the senator and lined up with him to take a photo. Franken said he would welcome it. He hasn't appeared in public since Tweeden's allegation.

Franken canceled a sold-out book festival appearance scheduled for Monday in Atlanta to speak and promote his book, "Al Franken, Giant of the Senate".
