WOW Air Announce A New Dublin To New York Route
Martin Jones, London Stansted's Commercial Director said: "WOW air's new service to New York JFK is great news for Stansted passengers looking to head to the Big Apple, offering not only fantastic value fares but quick and efficient connection times, and adds to the extensive range of North American destinations already on offer via its hub in Reykjavik".
You can now get a bite of the Big Apple without breaking the bank.
The airline is also offering $99 one-way flights from more airports as part of the new service announcement.
Wow Air already serves Newark, while Icelandair serves both Newark and JFK.
Today, $99 one-way fares are going on sale from JFK to Paris, Amsterdam, London Stansted, Frankfurt, Dublin, Copenhagen and Berlin. Additionally, the airline is extending service out of Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) with 13 flights per week starting May 2018.
The main downside is all flights have to go via Reykjavik in Iceland, rather than direct, and the no-frills airline charges customers extra for all the usual perks of a long-haul flight. Actually, catches: The $99 fares are limited and the airline charges extra for nearly everything, including carry-on and checked luggage, meals and snacks, phone booking, and more.
In a statement, CEO Skúli Mogensen said NY is "filled with culture, one-of-a-kind art, diverse cuisines and travelers" and that the airline is "excited to offer" low fares to more East Coast residents.
The airline encourages passengers to bring their own food and drinks for the duration of the flight, and download films and TV shows onto an iPad or laptop to keep themselves entertained.
In 2015, the airline began flying to Boston, its first US destination.
