The Colorado Rockies continue their bullpen restructuring with the signing of former Chicago Cub closer Wade Davis.

Davis was 4-2 with 32 saves for the Cubs in 2017. Passan also said there is a fourth-year vesting option that could take the total spend to $66 million. He and Rockies manger Bud Black were reportedly key recruiters of Davis.

Of course, the move means righty Greg Holland will not return to Denver after posting 41 saves in 2017, not a tremendous loss since he exhausted out in the second half in his first year back from Tommy John surgery.

The money going to Davis brings the sum of the Rockies offseason spendings to $114.5 million.

The positive response from these pop-up stores is being cited as one of the main motivating factors to open permanent stores. Now the company only sells the Pixel smartphones online and has a minor share in the smartphone market.

For now, Colorado appears to have a bullpen that features the three-time All-Star Davis at the back end, with Mike Dunn, Adam Ottavino, McGee and Shaw as formidable late-inning setup men. He was used as a starter until being transitioned to the bullpen in 2012. He has been an All-Star each of the past three seasons - twice in Kansas City and a year ago with the Cubs.

The average annual value of the deal surpasses the contract Aroldis Chapman signed with the New York Yankees that pays him $17.2m per season.

Davis also saw his walks rise in 2017, with his walks per nine innings (BB/9) increasing to 4.30 from 3.32 in 2016.

Holland faded dramatically in the second half of last season, while Davis was a one-man bullpen for the Cubs.
