Health officials are seeing an increase in flu cases in Connecticut

The week ending December 8 saw 338 cases reported, and last week saw 1,041 cases, more than triple the previous week, according to a city press release.

Last week, the GP consultation rate for ILI increased to 20.3 per 100,000 population, up from 6.8 per 100,000 the previous week.

DPHHS says cases of the flu are slightly higher then they were at this time in 2016.

Doctors say a typical flu season in Oklahoma usually runs from October to May.

The Director of the HSE's Health Protection Surveillance Service, Dr Kevin Kelleher encouraged people to get vaccinated, particularly those over 65, pregnant women and those under 65 with various health conditions.

Symptoms of influenza can include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue.
