Jets' Muhammad Wilkerson late due to personal matter with his child

NY can save $11 million against the salary cap by releasing him before the third day of the league year in March.

Asked if he was anxious how his decision would affect Wilkerson in the near future, Bowles said, "I'm anxious about the 53 guys I'm coaching".

Now we know a bit more about why head coach Todd Bowles is leaving Wilkerson behind.

On the field, Wilkerson slipped from a career-high 12 sacks in 2015; to 4 ½ last season, when he was playing hurt, and 3 ½ this season.

"I'm just anxious about the guys I'm coaching", Bowles said, when asked the same question. He continues to set a poor example for other players on the team.

"I'm just anxious about the guys going to the game tomorrow", Bowles said, "and I'm going to coach those 53 guys". NY would save $11 million against the salary cap next year by making the move.

Bowles wouldn't confirm if Wilkerson will play again this season.

Local gas prices continue to drop
The most expensive gas price averages in Georgia were in Savannah at $2.37 per gallon, Brunswick at $2.36 and Atlanta at $2.34. It's ultimately up to owners to decide if premium fuel is worth it, but choosing regular won't harm engines .

It marked the third straight year that Wilkerson had been benched for a quarter for disciplinary reasons, according to ESPN.

Bowles is tight-lipped to a fault at times, and Friday was no different.

Bowles said he addressed the decision with his team Friday, but wouldn't discuss what was said. Wilkerson wasn't seen at practice or in the locker room on Friday.

"Mission is still that same" Davis said. Bowles said the Jets will "probably wait" to make a decision on him. "It's about the team and we've got a big challenge in front of us on Sunday (versus the Saints), and that's what we're going to be focused on".

"I don't worry about living or not living up to contracts", Bowles said last week.

No matter who speaks up or where it comes from, the Jets brass needs to unwrap the gift that's been given to them by Wilkerson, and have him ride the pine for the season's final two games before letting him skip town and try to trick somebody else in to giving him a huge pay day.
