Winter Storm Warnings/Weather Advisories

Crippling winter storm forecast to ramp up Friday

The National Weather Service Office in Indianapolis has issued a winter weather advisory ahead of Friday afternoon's anticipated snow. Roads are already snow covered and will become worse through the evening.

A wide band of accumulating snow is forecast to spread into the Chicago area from the west - reaching westernmost portions of the area late morning, eventually covering the remainder of the area into northwest IN by mid-afternoon. While it will be sunny each day, it's going to feel much cooler with those wind chills staying below zero.

WikiLeaks founder's Twitter account briefly vanishes
This is all the more puzzling since the main Wikileaks Twitter account were up, as usual, having new posts since Friday, Dec. 22. The account reappeared without loss in number of tweets posted but having lost a considerable number of followers.

The advisory begins at 2 p.m. Friday and lasts until 4 a.m. Saturday. Snow will linger through midnight Saturday morning. The Winter Storm Warning for Muskegon, Oceana and Mason Counties will expire at noon. Total ice accumulation expected is only a light glaze. Higher elevations could see 1' - 4' feet of snow. If you're traveling for New Year's Eve, you'll want to use extreme caution, especially if heading north and west of the District where more snow is expected to fall. See you next year.
