J&K: Two terrorists killed in Shopian encounter, search operation underway
Two militants and a 24-year-old woman were killed by Indian armed forces during a gun-battle in the southern part of Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK) on Tuesday while dozens of civilians suffered injuries in the subsequent clashes near the gun-battle site.
According to a police official, the security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Wanipora area of Shopian on Monday evening following information about the presence of militants in the area.
Over eight civilians sustained injuries as protesters clashed with the security forces in Shopian's Batmurran area after the encounter left two militants dead.
Speaking to ANI, the Kashmir IG said that two jawans also got injured during the course of the operation. In the morning Jan, 30, was killed when she was hit by a bullet near the encounter site. Forty civilians have been killed during protests against security forces in the state since the beginning of 2017.
