In the NY area, the Sears located in Hicksville, on Long Island, is expected to close, as well as one in Toms River, New Jersey. That store will close in early April.

CNBC reported that Sears didn't say how many employees would be impacted by the closings, but a majority of the jobs are part-time positions and eligible employees would receive severance. Customers can use the store locator function on our web sites to find the location of their nearest Kmart and Sears stores.

Liquidation sales at affected locations will begin as early as January 12.
