A special CBI court on Saturday sentenced former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD chief Lalu Prasad to 3.5 years in jail and also imposed Rs 500,000 fine in a fodder scam case. Lalu Prasad is lodged at the Birsa Munda Central Jail in Ranchi while the sentence was announced via video-conference.

Tejashwi, who was the former deputy CM of Bihar, said that he along with Lalu's lawyers will go to High Court and even Supreme Court to appeal against the sentencing.

However, the court could not pronounce the quantum of punishment on January 5 as well and the sentencing deferred for one more day.

Lalu Yadav on Friday had filed a plea seeking minimum punishment for himself citing his poor health condition.

Earlier in the day, Lalu's wife Rabri Devi has called an emergency meeting to decide the individual roles for party leaders in likely absence of the RJD chief.
