Tennis: Nick Kyrgios through to Brisbane semi-finals
Nick Kyrgios of Australia holds the trophy after winning his final match against Ryan Harrison of the USA 6-4, 6-2, during the Brisbane International tennis tournament in Brisbane, Australia, Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018.
Kyrgios, 22, claimed the first set before taking control of the match after his American opponent dropped serve at the start of the second set with a double fault.
Having defied pain in his left knee to secure his fourth title and first since October 2016, Kyrgios will be fancied by many to pose a threat at the upcoming Australian Open providing he can stay fit.
The Sydney-born, Spain-based teenager had become the youngest Australian to reach an ATP semi-final since Hewitt in 2000 thanks to his Brisbane surge. I'm never going to play 25 tournament-plus (in a year) - it's about picking the right tournaments and be invested in the ones I pick.
Nick Kyrgios will play Ryan Harrison in the Brisbane International final.
While surprised not to see Tomic in Brisbane, Kyrgios appeared to be the only one not shocked by De Minaur's semi-final berth.

"I don't know what was going on (in the first set) - I was a bit exhausted, " Kyrgios said.
"He played a pretty solid first set, I played a pretty loose game to get broken", Kyrgios said.
The 29-year-old German was in sparkling form, firing 41 winners and making just 23 unforced errors to win 6-4 7-6 (4/7) after 90 minutes on court. Winning easily, he takes the match over Harrison 6-4, 6-2.
The Australian Open gets underway next Monday.
Harrison broke de Minaur to take a 4-2 second-set lead - but the Australian fought back to clinch a tie-break.
"He's a nightmare. He has a very unorthodox game and I don't match up well against him".
Last year Kyrgios was 0-2 in finals, finishing runner-up at the Western & Southern Open (l.to Grigor Dimitrov) in Cincinnati and at the China Open (l.to Rafael Nadal).
