Report: Manchester City bid for Alexis Sanchez

Alexis Sanchez

Should a deal be done, Alexis will be eligible to play in the Champions League knockout stage for Manchester City, with clubs allowed to add one player who has competed in the Europa League to their squads.

Sanchez has made clear his intention to join Pep Guardiola's side and discussions over a proposed January move are now underway. The Chilean worldwide has been linked with PSG, Bayern Munich and even Real Madrid over the past few months, but now the Gunners' top flight rivals Manchester City are set to make a significant bid.

Alexis Sanchez needs to leave Arsenal to secure a fresh start to his career, Craig Bellamy has claimed. We revealed last week that City were ready to make a renewed bid for Sanchez, having failed to land him in the summer.

The signing has strengthened talk of Jonny Evans, Samuel Umtiti or Inigo Martinez singing as City go in search of another defender.

Despite this, the north London giants are said to demand a minimum transfer fee of around £40m with Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool credited with an interest in the versatile attacker.

Ron Rivera gets new contract, but not new job security
The Panthers set a new franchise record by going 20 consecutive games without allowing a 100-yard individual rusher. For his efforts, the Panthers and Rivera recently agreed on a contract extension through the 2020 season.

In both reports it's suggested an injury to Gabriel Jesus has prompted City into accelerating a possible move for Sanchez.

This could force City to make their move, but Arsenal already have a price tag in mind they will have to reach.

The Chile global nearly joined City last summer and looks set to run his contract - which is up at the end of the season - down at the Emirates Stadium.

City face Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday and would need to register the former Barcelona man on Friday for him to participate against Jurgen Klopp's men.
