US President Donald Trump speaks to the media after the Congressional Republican Leadership retreat at Camp David US on Saturday

President Donald Trump who shares a bitter relationship with the mainstream American press has said he will announce the "most dishonest and corrupt" media awards next week.

As you can see in the tweet above, the president is citing interest that "is far greater than anyone could have anticipated" as a possible reason for the date change.

Why the delay? We expect it's because Trupm wants to get every detail of the ceremony right, from the ideal host (Sebastian Gorka, perhaps?) to the rocking house band (a tough call between Charlie Daniels and 3 Doors Down), to the red-carpet designers (a prime marketing opportunity for Ivanka).

Bannon apologized on Sunday for not responding sooner, calling Donald Trump Jr.

"I get it. There's one viewer that you care about right now and you're being obsequious and you're being a factotum in order to please him, OK", Tapper said on "State of the Union", appearing to reference the president.

In fact, several late-night comedy hosts are actually campaigning for the public disgrace that presumably will bring higher ratings.

Oakland Raiders sign Jon Gruden as their next head coach
By noting that nothing was official yet, Gruden is pretty much confirming that he will be the Raiders' next head coach. He is reportedly signing a 10-year contract with the soon-to-be Las Vegas-based team worth $100 million.

On Friday the Daily Show with Trevor Noah took out a full colour Oscar-style advert in the New York Times also apparently aimed at sealing a victory in Mr Trump's awards. "The good news is, despite his threats to Korea, at least he thinks we're going to make it until Monday".

His tweet prompted worldwide bemusement and amusement, but now the President has said he is delaying the honours citing the "interest in and importance of" the awards.

Trump had, on January 2, announced that he would give away awards to media houses for "dishonesty and bad reporting".

In an email to supporters of the president on December 28, the Trump campaign had sought nomination for the "King of Fake News" trophy.

President Trump has frequently singled out the Times, the Washington Post, CNN and other outlets for criticism of their reporting on the White House.
