Trump touts a poll that's terrible for him
A plurality of 39% gave Trump an F grade, while 17% gave him a D.
According to the poll, most respondents said they did not have confidence in the way President Donald Trump was handling North Korea, and by 52 percent to 32 percent they opposed the recently enacted Republican tax plan.
The support for Trump's impeachment was slightly higher than in an NBC/Wall Street Journal poll released in December.
While nearly two-thirds of USA voters, 66 percent, described the nation's economy as good or excellent - the highest percentage in Quinnipiac polls going back to 2001 - nearly half of them, 49 percent, gave the credit to former President Barack Obama, while 40 percent credited Trump.
A new Quinnipiac University poll gave the president a negative job approval rating including some of lowest scores since Inauguration day in a recent poll on Wednesday. It was 36% to 44% a year ago.
President Donald Trump on Thursday touted the results of a Quinnipiac University poll released a day earlier, which show that 66% of voters think the US economy is "excellent" or "good".
The poll was conducted just after the release of Fire and Fury, the highly critical, tell-all book about Trump's first year in office, which depicts a chaotic White House and has been roundly denounced by the Trump administration.
"President Trump can hang his hat on the economy, but must share the hat rack with President Barack Obama, as two-thirds of the country see the economic picture as excellent or good", Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll, said in a statement.
Quinnipiac said the poll surveyed 1,106 voters nationwide and had a margin of error of plus or minus 3.6 percentage points.
