Kevin Stefanski, seen here with Vikings QB Case Keenum could be the next OC of the Giants

The New York Giants showed interest in bringing in Kevin Stefanski to be their new offensive coordinator, but Minnesota has reportedly denied an interview that would put him working as a member of Pat Shurmur's staff.

Stefanski is still the team's quarterbacks coach since he is under contract by the Vikings, so any outside interviews would need to be approved by the team's front office if another franchise wanted to hire him for another position. There are few coaches in the league more equipped to deal with that kind of situation than Shurmur.

People sign these contracts to get some assurances from their employer that they will have a job for a certain number of years, and when it runs out, they try to work out a new one. But he'll have to stick as Minnesota's quarterbacks coach for another year while the Giants will have to go to Plan B at offensive coordinator.

Stefanski joined the Vikings in 2006 after Brad Childress was hired as coach. Shurmur intends to call plays in NY, much like he did for most of the past two seasons in Minnesota.

Perhaps the Star Tribune's Ben Goessling has it right that DeFilippo, who has already been on other teams' radar as a future head coach (both Chicago and Arizona reportedly interviewed him), may not be around after next season, and there would be an opening at OC for Stefanski.

Prominent Pakistani lawyer and activist Asma Jahangir passes away
Noted human rights lawyer and social activist Asma Jahangir has on Sunday passed away at the age of 66, Dunya News reported. She headed the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan and remained the Supreme Court Bar Association chairperson.

DeFilippo said Friday he will have "as much say as (Zimmer and Spielman) want me to" in the quarterback decision, and as he beat out Vikings quarterbacks coach Kevin Stefanski for the coordinator job, it was hard not to credit his wizened outlook on passers borne of his time with a rogue's gallery of young QBs - everyone from Carson Wentz and Derek Carr to Jamarcus Russell and Johnny Manziel. "He's done an unbelievable job this year". In those three games, including a 38-7 victory over the Vikings in the NFC championship game, Foles threw for 971 yards, six touchdowns and only one interception for a 115.7 passer rating.

Stefanski, 35, would've had play-calling duties as the Vikings offensive coordinator. And while the Seahawks' defense has been the team's backbone, Bevell was the OC for the Seahawks' XVLIII championship team that pounded Peyton Manning's Broncos, 43-8, at MetLife Stadium.

Super Bowl brain drain underway in Philadelphia.

Heading into the playoffs, Keenum has nothing but praise for the Shurmur/Stefanski duo.
