Google working on bringing Smart Reply feature to other messaging apps By Ida Torres
As of now, smart replies aren't shown in notifications, but with Reply, users will be able to send smart replies directly from the notifications list. Here, it offers suggested responses to questions like "Are you at the restaurant?" or "When can you be home?" Smart Reply functionality could save on-the-go workers time while improving collaboration. Last month, Googleannounced the addition of Smart Reply within Messages for those users on its mobile phone service, Project Fi.
The said project is going to be called "Reply" and will be available to Android users initially, as per the project's sign-up form.
Reply will use location and traffic information to help craft more specific smart replies, the announcement said. The app analyzes the text of conversation then generate a contextual response with three suggested replies for the user selection.
Reply will include a variety of other automated features, too.
Clemson projected as No. 3 seed in NCAA tournament
The Tigers, now 20-4 overall and 9-3 in second-place in the ACC, play at Florida State Wednesday night for a 7:05 tipoff. The committee placed the Spartans in the South Region, where Virginia and Cincinnati are the top two teams.
People who want to try Reply can register their interest after answering whether they primarily use Hangouts, Facebook Messenger, Android Messages, WhatsApp, Skype, Slack, Line or WeChat for daily or weekly messaging.
The project, like all Area 120 projects, is unrelated to any broader developments at Google - in this case, that means it's not directly tied to Google's messaging efforts. For example, when one's phone is on silent mode, Reply can bypass this and play the usual alert tone when it determines that a message is too urgent. The app is now only being offered to Android users as part of a test, which select people have been invited to.
The request for testing of the new project came from Area 120, a division of Google that works on experimental products.
A new app created by Google's Area 120 incubator called 'Reply, ' is now in beta and gives you smart reply options for most messaging services... "Like all other projects within Area 120, it's a very early experiment so there aren't many details to share right now".
