England suffer Twenty20 defeat to New Zealand leaving tri-series final hopes in tatters

Warner has scored a paltry 12 runs from three matches after averaging a lowly 14.6 during Australia's hefty One Day International series loss against England

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson and opening batsman Martin Guptill smashed 72 and 65 respectively as the Black Caps beat England by 12 runs in the fourth match of the T20 tri-series in Wellington.

ENGLAND'S wait for a tri-series win goes on after losing to New Zealand by 12 runs.

Williamson hit four sixes and four boundaries in his stay and combined with Martin Guptill (65) to put on 82 for the second wicket.

Opener Guptill contributed 65 from 40 deliveries and there was a useful cameo from debutant Mark Chapman, with the former Hong Kong worldwide scoring 20 off 13.

A blinding 47 off 24 balls from opener Alex Hales and 59 off 40 from Dawid Malan gave England some hope but they didn't get sufficient support as the required run rate steadily climbed.

England have now lost their last three games after back-to-back losses to Australia who have already qualified for the tri-series final.

Williamson said it was a crucial win for New Zealand, who can seal a spot in the final of the triangular series with a win over Australia on Friday in Auckland.

Fans on social media reacted immediately, with some even comparing it to former New Zealand skipper Dan Vettori's stunning effort against the West Indies at the 2015 World Cup.

Attack on Indian Army Camp in Kashmir Reportedly Leaves 2 Troops Killed
Singh said, "You should be rest assured that Army and security forces are giving a befitting reply to the attack". The authorities already closed all schools and restricted movement of people within 500 meters from the camp.

However, Guptill and Williamson were then invited to click through the gears by England's attack: both passing 50 - off 31 and 34 balls, respectively - with a six and then celebrating with a six off the next ball.

With debutant Tim Seifert hammering a six-ball 14, New Zealand finished on 196/5 off their 20 overs.

Vince was run out by Williamson for 10, Buttler hoisted Sodhi straight to long-off and Sam Billings left no impression. England bowled a lot of length balls, they were not the thing to bowl on there, it was a good pitch.

"It's important we try and get a read of the surface as quickly as possible and get stuck into our work".

"[Personal performance] You always want more runs, you always train hard, that's the focus".

Williamson was relieved after a recent lack of form in T20 cricket to make a Man of the Match contribution. He is only the 6th player to have played for two different countries in T20-format. "We dragged it back pretty well but they got too many", he said. "Trent was outstanding at the death, but we knew it would be a challenge and the guys stepped up to the mark today".

"That's what we need now, so we'll wait and see what happens", Buttler said.
