American Luger Emily Sweeney Knocked Out of Olympics After Terrifying Crash

As she was getting into an ambulance, Sweeney said, "I'm fine".

American Emily Sweeney has been taken to hospital after a nasty crash during her luge run at the Winter Olympics.

Sweeney apparently lost control as she made her way around a curve, struck a wall and was then thrown from her sled onto the ice surface. The stands were filled with fans cheering raucously, and they immediately went silent waiting for some sort of sign that Sweeney would be all right. After a few minutes, she was seen sitting under her own power, and was soon walking without assistance, albeit gingerly.

"I'm going to go get an X-ray on my back after this, but I wanted to have the last word".

The diagnosis was that Sweeney had only some bumps and bruises. So thanks for all the support, you guys.

Korea's Mixed Doubles Curling Team Thrash the US
Canada has made the mixed doubles podium just twice at the world championships, grabbing a silver in 2017 and a bronze in 2009. If China defeats Norway, however, they would force a tiebreak game to be played Sunday morning at 6:05 a.m.

Sweeney began to lose control coming into the turn 9 and bounced off both sides of the track, coming off her sled. Yeah, it's a bummer, for sure, and I know I'm better than that, but here we are.

The on-site doctor said that Sweeney was "banged up" but had no broken bones following the crash, USA Today reported.

CNN reports that Sweeney, who is also a member of the National Guard, missed out on a spot on the 2010 Winter Olympics team after losing a special race-off - to her big sister. According to an online broadcast, she was taken to a hospital.

Americans are still only on the fringe of the women's luge world, where Germany again dominated Tuesday night, with Natalie Geisenberger defending her Olympic gold medal.
