Intel earlier in the day was scheduled to send 300 of its LED-equipped Shooting Stars - the company was asked to reduce the size of its fleet for the live show - about hundreds of feet above Pyeongchang to create a number of image, according to USA Today.

Kicking off the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang, viewers from around the globe were treated to a record-breaking light show during the opening ceremony that surpassed Intel's previous record of 500 drones flown simultaneously in Germany in 2016.

The performance requires three employees to monitor the drones, and Olympic volunteers to help set them up. "One unbelievable show. See how our drone team pulled off a Guinness World Records title for the Opening Ceremony".

Following the PyeongChang 2018 Opening Ceremony, Intel ran a 30-second ad spot featuring the power of Intel Shooting Star drones and their unique entertainment possibilities.

Intel's drones can fly for around 20 minutes and of course, exterior factors, such as crosswinds and low temperatures can affect the overall flight time. Hot of the back of a drone display at CES in Las Vegas, they are using the drone displays to begin conversations about their technology and are even showing off the future of connectivity with a 5G demonstration at the Olympics Winter Games. That didn't keep the television network from highlighting the moment. All the drones for the shows are controlled by one computer and one drone pilot.
