James Davis Sr. and Diva Davis
A 19 year-old college student who allegedly fatally shot his Chicago-area parents at a Central Michigan University residence hall on Friday has local roots.
He had a special message to "the media and opinionated people": 'Please don't make a villain out of my brother.that is NOT who he is. and despite the circumstances, he also lost a mother and father. And I LOVE him. My mom and dad both rest from their life of labor and stress in a very tragic event.
Wearing a hospital gown and hooked up to an IV, James Eric Davis, Jr. mumbled and confused the judge at times when he was asked if he understood the charges: two counts of open murder and one count of felony firearm.
Davis Jr.'s parents had picked him up Friday from a hospital where he had been brought for suspected drug abuse. Their son had acted so strangely the night before, that University police suspected he was on drugs and admitted him to a hospital in Mt.
The shooting happened at Campbell Hall, a residence hall on CMU's west campus.
Davis Jr. was arrested without incident shortly after midnight following an intensive daylong search that included more than 100 police officers, some heavily armed in camouflage uniforms, authorities said.

So I did one seemingly little thing that turned out to be a big thing. "I was having trouble catching my breath", wrote Love. A few muffled (or so I thought) gags later, it became apparent to those around me that something was up.
Russell Mathew Davis said on his post that he's pursuing a doctorate in faith and "THIS is my examination!" They asked Davis Jr.to call his parents, which he did.
He also would not say what type of gun was used or whether it was Davis Sr.'s service revolver. The gun was registered to his father. They had gone to his dorm and were planning to take him home for spring break.
Investigators have said the shooter's roommate witnessed the murders, and that Davis, Jr. used a gun belonging to his father, who works as a police officer in IL.
Hopper said, despite reports, there was not a strained relationship between Davis Jr. and his parents.
Friday's shooting paralyzed the small college town in MI. The campus was placed on lockdown.
Friday was the last day of classes for Spring Break, so many parents were headed to the campus to pick students up. Pleasant, Michigan, about 155 miles northwest of Detroit.
