That means you can now nearly instantly try out select games before having to download the entire experience. The apps also don't save anything to the phone or generate an icon; it's a one-time experience after you load up the instant app. To do this, the team is adding a new "arcade" tab in the newly redesigned Google Play Games app to highlight the current crop of Instant games and launching an Instant Gameplay collection in the Google Play Store.

Google made no real mention of it in its blog post, but it's likely we'll see this feature creep into Google's Universal App Campaign structure that lets people install apps directly from Google searches or adverts.

There is still a small download for Android Instant games, which makes sense because you can't play nothing. The update is now live in the Google Play Store. Allowing them to get a taster of the experience, make a judgement on whether or not it is something they would like to look at further, and are given an option to then download the full application from within the Instant experience.

The tool can also perform text detection on an image, which can be extracted and used for other purposes, like copying the visible words into a document in another app. Google Lens even includes the ability to create a contact from a photograph of a business card, automatically filling out details displayed on the card.

Android Instant will be available on Google Play soon, and you can check out instant games right on the store pages. Moderated by Craig Chapple, Senior Editor of PocketGamer.biz, the panel will explore the exciting growth of emerging mobile platforms for instant entertainment experiences, including a state of the market and what's next for Facebook's Instant Games and Android's platforms. A loading screen that features the name of the game and the new "Google Play Instant" branding will appear.

The demos have already started to translate into more downloads for game developers. Now, however, it will be coming to video games in the Play Store. Google also said game developers would be able to use customized renderings and other data from Maps inside games.

For now, this project is still a closed beta, though Google plans to open it up to more developers later this year. "We just want the quality to be where it needs to be", Karmel added.
