Marvel Is 'Absolutely' Making a Black Panther Sequel

10 March 2018, 01:10 | Jermaine Blake

In the first novel commissioned by Marvel about the Wakandan superhero, award-winning journalist and author Jesse Holland takes a deep dive into the mythology of the Black Panther and the lives of the characters depicted in the groundbreaking feature film.

In a new interview, Feige said the Marvel team already has "solid" ideas for where the follow-up flick would go.

Kevin Feige didn't have any thing to say about the sequel as of yet, but did mention they have discussed a Black Panther 2.

"[Marvel Studios] was making a movie about the Black Panther and wanted to know if I would be interested in writing the first novel about the iconic Marvel character", said Holland. The movie is already the second highest-grossing Marvel film domestically, with its $520 million haul in North America trailing only 2012's The Avengers, at $623 million domestically ($1.5 billion worldwide), according to Box Office Mojo. "Avengers: Infinity War" releases in USA theaters on April 27, 2018.

US Treasury Just Threw a New Twist in Broadcom's Proposed Qualcomm Takeover
But some other news has come out that might force Broadcom to put the kibosh on its bid for now, and try again at another time. The deal's pushback on national security grounds is seen by some as trade posturing by the Trump administration against China.

On February 13, French President Emmanuel Macron said Iran's ballistic missile program must be placed under global surveillance. French diplomatic source reported Le Drian saying: "We're not going to be Donald Trump's envoys or Iran's defence lawyers".

This is no surprise for comScore box-office analyst Paul Dergarabedian, who told Business Insider earlier this week that "Black Panther" would preform better than "Last Jedi". Apparently, it has also been inspiring people to adopt black cats, and gift them with names like Shuri, T'challa and Killmonger - which, yes, are characters in the movie.

In addition to its stellar box office run, Black Panther has also been a favorite with critics, earning a 97 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. And if Black Panther performs the way those other movies did in that country, it stands to add an extra $100-150 million to its coffers from it alone. I reminded him that it was because of The Dark Knight's exclusion that the Academy went to 10 (and now up to 10) nominees to get movies like that included, but to no avail so far.

"I think there's lots of potential", he said. "Believe me, I'm exhausted of every movie, you know, "It's the end!" Okoye, I think I'd watch three action films just Okoye.

"I saw some of the cast from Black Panther, which made me really excited..." I'm not saying we're doing that, but I'm saying that we're intrigued by them, he explained.
