Thousands of people marched in downtown St. Louis on Saturday morning to protest gun violence and advocate for stricter gun control.

"The high-schoolers and the college students are sick of this normalcy in this environment that we live in where we have to live with mass shootings and code-red drills", said Alex Wind, a junior at Stoneman Douglas.

Although the Washington march was bankrolled by left-leaning celebrities including Oprah Winfrey and George and Amal Clooney, students who survived the Parkland shooting, students directly affected by gun violence have been its faces.

On the national level, youth from Oakland are participating in the country's focal event, a march in Washington, D.C., according to Congresswoman Barbara Lee's office.

I was hopeful that Parkland would spark people to take action, but I also knew the road ahead would be hard.

Andy Rohrbaugh of Dillsburg said he marched as a "responsible gun owner" who wants it to be more hard for some people to buy guns.

"Enough is enough", said Demetri Hoth, a student from MSDHS.
