James Comey Before Senate Intelligence Committee

Republicans are launching a preemptive strike against former FBI Director James Comey's credibility, labeling him "Lyin' Comey" in advance of his book and publicity tour in which he is expected to trash President Trump.

That's according to the Daily Beast, reporting on Comey's account of the call from Kelly, the current White House chief of staff who at the time was serving as Department of Homeland Security chief.

Comey said then-DHS secretary Kelly said he was "sick" about the situation and "intended to quit" in protest, saying "he didn't want to work for dishonorable people" - meaning President Donald Trump.

Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel says in a statement that Comey is "a liar and a leaker, and his misconduct led both Republicans and Democrats to call for his firing". "Badly overstepped his bounds, " Clinton is quoted as saying of Comey.

The RNC effort underscores the incredibly high stakes for Trump and his party as Comey details his interactions with the president, including his claim that Trump asked for a loyalty test.

Former Nebraska football star announces retirement from NFL
Bills' left guard Richie Incognito shockingly retired Tuesday, citing medical concerns caused by the stress of football. Incognito earned three of his four Pro Bowl selections in Buffalo, and was considered among the Bills team leaders.

At the bottom of the homepage, the RNC trumpets "Obstruction?" noting that Comey "may" use his book tour to "push the phony narrative" that Trump obstructed the Russian Federation investigation. But I think, ultimately, he's going to help Trump.

Mr Comey has faced criticisms from the Democratic party too, after he announced the Federal Bureau of Investigation would be further investigating Hillary Clinton, the party's presidential nominee, shortly before the 2016 election.

The exhaustive plan to attack Comey illustrates how seriously Trump's allies are taking the memoir and a round of television interviews Comey is set to give, including on CNN starting next week followed by a town hall April 25.

Comey's book, "A Higher Loyalty", is set to go on sale on Tuesday. "And they can judge for themselves who is honorable and who is not".

Many Democrats had reacted with outrage after Comey informed lawmakers of new information related to the FBI's investigation into Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., ("It would not be a bad thing for the American people if [Comey] did step down.").
