The U.N. high commissioner for human rights has urged Israel to refrain from using excessive force against Palestinians who have been staging weekly mass protests on the Gaza border with Israel.
Israeli warplanes struck a military target belonging to the armed wing of Hamas, a security source said Friday.
In the US, pro-Palestinian demonstrations have erupted in cities across the country, protesting the Israeli atrocities against the Gaza residents.
The return march protests are calling for millions of Palestinians to be allowed to return to their historic homes, that are now inside Israel.
Our correspondent adds: Amnesty International on Friday called for an international arms embargo against Israel following the country's disproportionate response to mass demonstrations along the fence that separates the Gaza Strip from Israel.
It may be noted that it is not the single incident, in various such case, many Palestinians are injured in Israeli military's firing.
Four children aged between 14 and 17 are among those killed due to injuries sustained during protests.
"Many of the athletes have suffered serious head injuries", Ahmed Muheisen, the Deputy Minister of the Gaza Ministry of Youth and Sports, said at a press conference in Gaza City on Sunday.
Gaza's hospitals have struggled to cope with the large number of casualties due to shortages in medical supplies, electricity and fuel caused by the Israeli blockade and exacerbated by the intra-Palestinian divide.
Witnesses said at least three protesters broke through the fence and briefly entered Israel before running back.
"Yes, they go to the border fence; yes, they throw stones; yes, they throw Molotov cocktails, but you're dealing with one of the best equipped armies in the world", she said.
"Their situation is so miserable in Gaza".
President Abbas, however, insisted on fully taking over Gaza Strip, and said he would continue his actions.
According to the Israel Defense Forces, the rioters once again approached the security fence, throwing rocks and firebombs, while attempting to infiltrate Israel.
The rallies are part of a six-week protest that will culminate on May 15.
Leading global legal experts says Israel is following agreements set in the 1995 Olso II accords that envisage the dangers inherent in attempts to approach the border.
