BC-HKN--Sharks Frustration

Fantasy Hockey Breaking News

After suffering the worst playoff loss in team history on Thursday night, a 7-0 shellacking by the Vegas Golden Knights in the first game of the Western Conference semifinals, the San Jose Sharks awoke to find that the sun did indeed come up in the morning.

Among franchise and National Hockey League records, the Golden Knights most recently eliminated the L.A. Kings to become the first expansion to to sweep a playoff series.

After a dominant first round against Anaheim, San Jose goalie Martin Jones got lit up in Game 1.

After surrendering just four goals in the entire first round, Jones matched that number facing just seven shots in the first period, and he did so in the game's first 11:43. San Jose was not able to get anything going on offense, courtesy of Vegas' blocking ability and a wall named Marc-Andre Fleury.

All in all, a lot of people all over the country watched the Golden Knights destroy the Sharks, and a ridiculous amount watched from their homes in Las Vegas. Game 2 is Saturday night.

His parents want to take him to the Bambino Gesu (Baby Jesus) paediatric hospital in Rome which is administered by the Vatican. But the judge has refused their application and given doctors the go-ahead to stop treatment and bring Alfie's life to an end.

The Sharks can't blame their sluggishness on the eight-day layoff in between rounds - not when the Golden Knights had an extra day off. Reason dictates that San Jose will still make this a competitive series. While the former swept the Los Angeles Kings, the latter swept the Anaheim Ducks.

Despite opening the second period with a great back-to-back save effort, Jones gave up his fifth goal of the game when Reilly Smith broke through two San Jose defenders and found Shea Theodore who lifted the puck past Jones. Erik Haula, James Neal and Alex Tuch each contributed a goal and an assist. San Jose is 1-4 in the last five meetings. The Sharks took 33 shots on goal - several of them on power plays, including a brief 5-on-3 opportunity - and Fleury played each of them perfectly. Through 87 regular season contests, 43 of the team's games have gone over the total, while 41 have gone under and just three have pushed. The team's been forced to defend opponent power plays 16.6 minutes per game over their last five road outings.

That wasn't supposed to work against the Sharks, which used a similar approach to suffocate the Ducks in a first-round sweep even more lopsided than the Golden Knights' dispatching of the Kings. "Hopefully that'll be us".

Despite the mid-90s heat, an amped-up crowd began to assemble outside of T-Mobile Arena more than two hours before the start of the first period.
