A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for much of the state, with a blizzard warning in southwestern Minnesota. Snow, sleet, and mixed precipitation could also be part of the mix, but freezing rain is expected for most of Sunday.
Snow will exit KAKEland Saturday morning with a trace to 2 inches of accumulation possible along and North of I-70. As colder air moves in, expect the freezing line to dip further to the south. Despite not being included, this region could still see freezing rain, with the best chances of this occurring Saturday night into Sunday morning when temperatures are closer to the 30-32° for lows. A few inches accumulation are possible.
In fact, the National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard Warning for northern and western Siouxland from Friday evening into Saturday evening.
Between 8 to 15 inches are likely, with totals possibly reaching 18 inches in some areas, the weather service said.
We can't rule out a mix of precipitation moving through the area Tuesday night before Wednesday becomes partly cloudy and windy with highs near 50.
