Backcourt blues: Cavs guards Smith, Hill disgusting in Game 2

Video: JR Smith Shoves Al Horford Mid-Air, Marcus Smarts Retaliates

Cavaliers guard JR Smith won't face discipline from the National Basketball Association after he was assessed with a flagrant foul in Ceveland's 107-94 loss to Boston in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference finals on Tuesday, according to ESPN, which cited unidentified league sources.

Horford's teammate Marcus Smart immediately ran over to stand up for his teammate and got into it with Smith.

I don't know if I would call Smart an enforcer, but he kept the Cavs on their toes, and like he said after the game you can't let someone just pick on you.

"That's not the first time JR has done some dirty stuff, especially playing against us".

Boston led 84-77 after three quarters and took command late in the fourth with the Cavs getting little offense other than from James.

Eleven Iranians among dead in Israel strikes on Syria Thursday
Iranian targets have repeatedly been hit inside Syria in recent weeks in attacks thought to have been conducted by Israel. The comments come against the backdrop of a visit to Moscow by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu this week.

Speaking about the incident after the game, the Boston point guard explained how the Cavs man had previous for this type of play against the Celtics and likened him to a bully.

Smith has been flat out very bad on the defensive end in this series, with the Cavs sporting a 117 defensive rating with him on the floor. On Tuesday, Smith was 0-for-7 shooting for no points.

JR Smith #5 of the Cleveland Cavaliers dribbles down the court in the third period against the Brooklyn Nets during their game at Barclays Center on March 25, 2018 in the Brooklyn borough of New York City. Cleveland had 15 turnovers leading to 13 Boston points.

For a team that lacks depth, the Cavaliers need more from Smith.

There doesn't appear to be any concern on his end that it could force him to miss any action, which shouldn't come into play with the extended break until Game 3 on Saturday night. I think they're playing tougher than we are. In the first to games against the Celtics, the 32-year-old has totaled just four points and two assists despite averaging 28 minutes.
