Powerful Northeast Storms Kill Two, Snarl Commutes, Knock Out Power to Thousands

Residents in the Northeast cleaned up Wednesday, a day after powerful storms pounded the region with torrential rain and marble-sized hail, leaving at least three people dead and more 200,000 homes and businesses without power.

The National Weather Service confirmed a man in Danbury, Connecticut and an 11-year-old girl in Newburgh, New York died Tuesday due to fallen trees.

Roads in many towns were impassible and some schools cancelled classes due to the damage.
