Modi in Nepal: All you need to know about the Janakpur-Ayodhya direct bus service

Further, saying nothing adequately defines Nepal-India relationship, Modi said both the countries had same goal of happiness and prosperity. "It is a project which will have a transformative impact on Nepal's growth trajectory". After offering prayers, he also greeted and interacted with people waiting at the temple premises. But experts say Arun III would be a losing proposition for Nepal because almost 80% electricity generated by this project will be exported to India.

Inaugurating the bus service, Modi said: "Ramayan Circuit will help boost tourism".

Indian PM Modi also congratulated Deuba for successfully holding three-tier election.

The Nepal government will receive benefits worth Nepali Rupees 348 billion from the project as royalty, income tax, customs tariff and free energy in the concession period of 25 years. "PM Modi offered prayers at the human-size golden statue of Lord Vishnu as Shri Mukti Narayan", said Raveesh Kumar, official spokesperson at the Ministry of External Affairs, after Modis visit to the Muktinath temple. In a statement Modi said the visit was part of his government's "neighborhood first" policy and "reflects the high priority, India, and personally I, attach to our age-old, close and friendly ties with Nepal". "Without Nepal, India's faith is incomplete".

"India stands shoulder to shoulder with the people of Nepal". We have been there for each other in the most hard of times"-perhaps pointing to India's role in rushing food and other necessities to Nepal within hours of the 25 April 2015 quake".

Speaking to news agency PTI, Modi said, "Janakpur and Ayodhya are being connected".

"Nepal and India relations were started during the rule of King Janak in Treta Yuga and the bondage built by Sita during the period is still strong". He underlined the need for linking Nepal and India through highway, I- way or Information, Railway, Trans way or electric connectivity, waterway and airway.

Not once did Modi mention China, which has drawn Nepal closer into its circle after Kathmandu's ties with Delhi soured 2015 onwards.

"We remain committed to doing everything that we can, which furthers the economic development of Nepal", he said. Janakpur will be added to the Ramayana Circuit and Lumbini will be included in the Buddhist Circuit.

In the fifth tweet, he mentioned the cultural linkages and expressed wish to see more pilgrims and tourists visiting the two countries.

"We are committed to support Prime Minister Oli's vision that Nepal should not be a land-locked country but a land- and water-linked nation", he said.
