AMU Issue: Internet Services suspended in Aligarh, Section 144 imposed in Town

Wading into the controversy over the presence of Pakistan's founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah's portrait in Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Union Minister of State for External Affairs VK Singh said that Muslims who support the idea of having Jinnah's portrait in AMU are insulting their forefathers.

Kashmir University Teachers Association (KUTA) has strongly condemned the recent incident of violence and brutal assault of Hindu Yuva Vahini members upon the students of Aligarh Muslim University followed by cane-charging of student union leaders by U.P. police.

The former Uttar Pradesh minister claimed that the Bombay High Court museum, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, also has a portrait of the Pakistan founder.

Be it the ugly battle between BJP and Congress members over the portrait or Samajwadi Party comparing Jinnah to India's iconic figures - Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru, it seems like the controversies regarding the Pakistani leader have simply refused to die down at AMU.
