Simmons Has Horror Game In Loss To Celtics

Boston Celtics' Jaylen Brown to come off bench if he plays Game 2 against Philadelphia 76ers
Game 3 is Saturday in Philadelphia.
But the Sixers took their big lead early, and the Celtics rallied.
If Simmons had offered Philly anything offensively, they would've secured a win as they had three players score 20+ points each.
Simmons was fantastic in the Sixers' first-round series against Miami.
In the other eastern conference semi-final, LeBron James' Cleveland took a 2-0 stranglehold in their series against the Toronto Raptors with a comprehensive 128-110 win.
Despite those long odds, Brown, Simmons and Joel Embiid each said that the Sixers wouldn't let Thursday's loss impact them as they prepare for Game 3.
"Do we have discussions with Jaylen about, hey, the reason why you've got to go through all these tests and do all this is to run around screens with JJ Redick, which, to be honest, is a different challenge from most everything else in the league", said Stevens.
Two free throws from Jayson Tatum tied the game once again, but Robert Covington answered by drilling a three with Chester-native Marcus Morris leaving the swingman with no room to breathe. Before the morning shootaround, Boston Celtics coach Brad Stevens hinted that Brown wouldn't be able to go and even if he was able to go it sounded like it would be very limited.
Markelle Fultz, who was "traded" from the Celtics to the Sixers, who accepted Boston's first pick in the draft, did not play against the Celtics in the four games but has since returned.
Simmons' struggles in Game 2 were in stark contrast to his backup, T.J. McConnell. Brown is not too far behind, tallying 17.9 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.
Philly's sharp-shooting Redick, led all 76ers with 23 points and Ben Simmons finished the night with a whopping one point (0-4 FG). Al Horford is averaging 18.4 points and 8.9 rebounds while Terry Rozier is averaging 19.1 points and 6.9 assists. Rookie star Ben Simmons was virtually non-existent, scoring just one point in 31 minutes. He's going to have to step up for the 76ers to get back in the series.
Philadelphia's poor play apparently didn't sit with coach Brett Brown, either. Boston has a world of confidence after their comeback win but the question will remain whether they can come up with a win on the road after they failed in three opportunities against Milwaukee in the opening round.
Following an anemic offensive effort in Game 1, the Sixers looked rejuvenated early in Game 2, using a 14-2 run to begin the second quarter on their way to building a 48-26 lead.
The paper went on to call Thursday's performance the worst game of Simmons' career. Getting Brown back after he missed the second half of Game 7 against the Bucks and Game 1 of this series with a sore hamstring was helpful and he chipped in with a solid game off the bench. Al Horford sealed the game with a driving layup of his own with with 8.3 seconds left. Simmons has to be worlds better than he was in Game 2, where he was a -23 in plus/minus and outplayed by TJ McConnell. The Boston Celtics are allowing 35.6 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 42.1 rebounds per game.
The NBA Eastern Conference semifinals matchup between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Boston Celtics has a lot of history.
