Abramovich orders Chelsea FC to sign Ligue 1 star despite Conte uncertainty – report
Boss Antonio Conte is expected to leave this summer but the newspaper says Abramovich still wants to push ahead with their transfer plans despite uncertainty over who'll be in charge next season.
Asked if it was realistic for Chelsea to overhaul Spurs and clinch Champions League qualification, Conte puffed out his cheeks.
Antonio Conte has backed Gary Cahill to force his way back into the England squad in time for this summer's World Cup, saying that the Chelsea captain deserves to be on the plane to Russian Federation.
Cahill remains Chelsea's captain, a role he took on full-time following John Terry's departure previous year and Conte suggested a period of adjustment has been necessary in the club icon's absence.
"It's not so simple", Chelsea head coach Conte said.
The result now means that Chelsea are just two points behind Tottenham Hotspur, who have a game in hand, while it looks like the scramble for relegation will go down to the wire for Swansea after Southampton's win over Bournemouth trimmed the gap between the two sides to just a single point.
